Where holiday costs really add up

  • Outside the EU. Travel further and roaming charges do apply, and they climb fast. Switch your mobile data on and off deliberately, or use wifi.
  • Border masts. Near a non-EU border (for example along Switzerland on the way to Italy), your phone sometimes latches onto a mast outside the EU. You then pay roaming without noticing.
  • At sea. On a cruise or ferry, the connection runs via satellite. That’s expensive, even between two EU countries. Turn your data off as soon as you leave the mainland.

Does my UNDO plan work abroad in Europe — including the UK?
Yes — your included bundle (data, minutes, texts) works across the EU and the UK at the same rate as at home — no roaming surcharge. If you go over your bundle, you simply pay the standard Belgian rate, not a special roaming fee. Full details on UNDO’s roaming page.

Do I need a bigger plan before going on holiday in the EU or UK?
No. Since your bundle already works across Europe and the UK, buying extra data “just in case” usually just means unused gigabytes evaporating at the end of the month.

What about traveling further afield, outside the EU and the UK?
Roaming charges do apply there, and they can add up fast — check the roaming rates for your destination, and switch mobile data on and off deliberately, or rely on wifi.

Why did I get charged roaming even though I stayed in the EU?
Near a non-EU border, your phone can briefly latch onto a mast outside the EU (e.g. Switzerland) without you noticing, triggering roaming charges.
